It was 42 degrees when we got up at 7:00 this morning. It was drizzling a little but you could see some sky through the clouds. We got in the car after breakfast and drove through the Franconia Notch toward Littleton. We stopped where Old Man of the Mountain use to be before it crumbled off. This was a rock formation that looked like a man’s profile. It was the New Hampshire state symbol that was featured on stamps and the state quarter.
There is a brewpub in Littleton so we continued on. Littleton also has a new covered bridge. This is only a footbridge and was built in 2004. Going out of town we saw a Chevy dealership and stopped to see about getting an oil change. They were booked up until Monday but another dealership in town changed the oil and filer and rotated the tires.
We took a different route back that took us through Bath and we drove across a covered bridge built in 1832. We stopped to take a picture. About 2 miles down the road was the little town of Stillwater and they also had a covered bridge, it was built in 1849. We drove across it and stopped to take a picture. After getting back to Lincoln we went to the American Legion #83 and had a beer and chatted with everyone there. Then back to the Casita at our campground. There are more people camping today because it is the weekend and the Highland Games are in Lincoln today and tomorrow. More sun began to shine later in the day. Tomorrow should be even better. There is supposed to be a light freeze tonight.
