We left camp and Jim wanted to go back to Vermont since they seem to be opening their roads after hurricane Irene. We drove to the vicinity of Marshfield and got a site at Groton Forest Road Campground. This is a Passport America campground. The drive through Groton State Forest was really pretty. It was very curvy, and had lots of trees that grew almost to the road and you could see the mountains. After unhooking we drove into the town of Cabot. There is a creamery there but we didn’t get to it in time for a tour. We sampled all their cheeses and bought a piece of tomato basil cheddar along with some Vermont made summer sausage. We will go back tomorrow for a tour. We drove to the American Legion Hall in Hardwick and had a beer while I circled all the cities where the covered bridges are on our state map. We were really close to the Fisher Railroad covered bridge at Walcott that was built in 1908 and took a picture. Jim walked through it to the other side. I went half way and turned back. You could see between the railroad ties to the river below. It made me queasy!
